ADDISON
I stared at the bouquet of flowers on my desk and sat there fuming with the card in my hand. They were pretty, and it made me furious. It was yet another one of Jackâs sorry attempts to get me back. It was the third arrangement heâd sent me this week. As if flowers were enough to do it. And heâd decided to send ones he knew Iâd like, because he knew I was picky.
I still hadnât really spoken to him. I was still pushing it off. Somehow, Jack had used his last brain cell to figure out where I worked. I guess he figured if I wouldnât answer his calls, this was the next best option. Now I was avoiding two assholes, and I was sick of it.
Damian strode out of his office with purpose towards my desk. He looked as if he was about to say something and then, clocking the flowers, he suddenly changed his mind.
âMore flowers?â He asked sarcastically.
âYes.â
âHmmm. You really get around.â
âFuck you Damian.â
âNot at the office, Addison.â His tone was sharp and serious.
I huffed, âItâs not like we talk to each other anywhere but in the office.â
âThen I guess you shouldnât ever tell me to fuck off, seeing as I sign your checks.â
âIf you must know, theyâre from Jack. Theyâre always from Jack.â I could almost sense under his grumpy scowl that Damian seemed slightly pleased at my answer. Like he was pleased they weren't from some new guy. As if it were any of his business, anyway.
âHe just keeps sending flowers as if it will fucking fix things. I canât stand it.â I admitted, giving the flowers a death glare.
âIâll take care of it.â He glowered.
âWhat?â
âDonât worry about getting deliveries anymore. Iâll take care of it.â
âDamian, you donât need to do that. I can deal with it myself.â I didnât need him imposing on yet another area of my life. He was already stepping on my personal life with the horrendous hours and odd errands he had me running all the time. I didnât need him getting involved in this and making it worse.
He looked at me with a menacing look. âI donât need my employees being harassed.â And with that, he went back to his office and slammed the door.
I sat there, smugly waiting for him to return, knowing that he had come out to ask me to do something. I felt slightly pleased at riling him up. I had to be careful. I was walking a fine line, but I couldnât help it. I kept finding myself hunting for a morsel of control anywhere I could, and pissing Damian off enough to forget what he was going to say checked that box.
Suddenly, my phone rang.
âGet in here.â
âSure thing, boss.â I hung up and walked into his office.
I pushed the door open. âYes?â I said with a sigh.
âI need you to schedule a follow up meeting with Mr. Nagamori.â
âOk, any preferences on when?â
He snapped at me, âGod damn it, Addison. Do I
